The Black Black are back with another release!!
A continuation of Adjusted I, and Sweet Static is proud to have their hands on Adjusted II.
Starting it off right. Pour yourself a beer and push play.
‘Lethargy For Life’ is exactly what it sounds like, but you can definitely feel the emotion and energy in the music. Finding the pointlessness in dedicating your life to a career that is supposed to mean something to you. “Can’t you see, what this means / Can’t you see what this is supposed to mean me.” A feeling weariness and disfranchisement, being deprived of the happiness and satisfaction we’re supposed to have. (“….entertaining that it’s alright.”). Jon Daily sings “Oh won’t you please, oh won’t you please, just give me some of your money?” — a plea for money so he can work solely on his passion and maybe find out why people think life is worthwhile.
The Black Black is Jonathon Daily (guitar, vocals), Tomo Ikuta (drums), and Sean McRee (bass, vocals).
‘I Am A Grandiose Romantic Gesture’ is a self-deprecating view of being a romantic. When you put your passion into romantic gestures and when they’re not received well, it’s destructive to your self-esteem. “I’m such a sucker for happy ending / I’m always sinking with the ships / I try and try to overcome your afflictions, but that is more than I’ll admit.” Being a hopeless romantic will be the death of most of us. “I cannot make up for these years of drama / You can’t forgive, you can’t forgive.” A broken heart is hard to heal, but music and drinking surely helps!
‘Trenton’ is a real banger. A bonus track when you buy the record on Bandcamp, so get on that! “We brought our destruction” and you should too!!!
