As much as we had hoped that it was a harmless April Fool’s joke…Rats Mouth has broken up.
Fortunately, we were given an awesome farewell album.
Bad Grammar – an 8-song EP, chuck full of feelings and adrenaline is out now on Already Dead Tapes & Records.
We start out with ‘Snoozer.’ An eerily sounding song with the lines “I don’t mean to hit you, but I’m so tired” repeated several times. Although it has a sluggish start, it picks up with screeching vocals.
‘Cool Rock Band’ is a sarcastic song embodying what a lot of people daydream about. “I just want to be in a cool rock band with a cool label, cool outfits….” The first moment I heard this song, Lou Reed came to mind; the vocals are similar. A jumpy, fun, sarcastic song, nothing flashy but makes an important point about people who don’t make a stance. The chorus backing vocals sing “Isn’t that really what you want?” Let’s vow to keep inauthentic, “robotic” bands out of the scene because it doesn’t take skill or innovation to be pleasing to everyone one.
