THICK came out with a music video for fun hit jam ‘Anymore!’
A video encompassing how most of us feel Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. In the morning, I’m stumbling through the city streets and subways, walking to work with a cigarette in one hand and a large iced french vanilla macchiato from Dunkin Donuts. During the day, my main purpose is not to fuck up at work, thus continuing my employment and non-homelessness. At the end of the day, I roll up my sleeves grab a beer or two or three, head home and start writing articles like this.
We summed up ‘Anymore’ in a past article when we featured THICK as one of our featured monthly artists, check it out here.
‘Anymore’ is a song that every person can relate to when they reach a certain moment in their 20s. You just got an aparment in Bushwick, you’re poor, your friends have all found their perfect mates in what seems to be the long-term relationship you desire/deserve, plus you need to start adulting. You realize that you’re not a kid anymore.
Starting with a soft melody, just one guitar. Then the bass and drums come in. Soft vocals singing “I got that job for my mom, and now I’m bored / I got that apartment in Brooklyn, and now I’m poor.” Growing up is a cruel wake up call and time flies. Trying to become what our parents and what the world expects of us is daunting and a constant internal struggle. ‘Anymore’ has an upbeat sound as if the band is trying to reassure us that everything may look like its caving in around you, but you’re rising past everything. You’re rising past your childhood, old friends, and starting a new part of your life with new people (and better music). So get out there, live, have adventures, and just experience what life has to offer. Only clocking in at 3:44, ‘Anymore’ is just one of those things that we need to get through the day sometimes.
